HAGERSTOWN, Md., Sept. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DocuTrac, Inc., a leading developer of software for the behavioral health industry, is proud to announce the launch of QuicExchange, a data exchange connectivity service that manages and monitors the secure transfer of patient data. QuicExchange can move patient data to and/or from DocuTrac's Complete ARRA-Certified EHR QuicDoc®, as well as any other electronic records system, and health data repositories, clinical testing laboratories, portals, government agencies, healthcare providers, and other entities dealing with healthcare data.
With the Affordable Care Act mandating national mobilization of healthcare information electronically, providers are faced with unprecedented challenges in sharing data, and even more so for behavioral health providers who deal with sensitive, confidential, and highly regulated patient data on a daily basis. QuicExchange was designed to provide a secure channel to transfer private health information. It is a logical progression of services offered by DocuTrac since managing and securing sensitive data and databases has been a main focus of the company for over twenty years.
James Miller, Director of Quality Control and Compliance at DocuTrac, points out that, "Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) and Regional Health Information Organization (RHIOs) were established to facilitate the exchange of patient information, however many providers aren't aware of the potential liabilities associated with electronically transferring data. Unlike requirements in the medical field, behavioral health practitioners deal with particularly sensitive patient information that is strictly regulated by state and federal government agencies. Inadvertent disclosure of this data is met with stiff penalties. The onus for protecting this sensitive information is on the provider, and QuicExchange was designed to assist in this process by monitoring and restricting the exchange of sensitive, protected data, and assuring compliance with government regulations."
Whether or not qualifying for Meaningful Use, interoperability is part of the future of healthcare and behavioral health providers may, in the future, be required to send their patient data to a health data repository as part of a universal healthcare system. In providing the QuicExchange channel service, DocuTrac is looking to fill the current and future needs of their customers and other healthcare providers for a secure, reliable, and compliant data exchange system.
DocuTrac develops electronic medical records and practice management software for the behavioral health and human services industries.
