Doctors Tea Party to Host Sharron Angle, San Diego August 7th
SAN DIEGO, Calif., July 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Physicians and citizens concerned about the negative effects of ObamaCare on American medicine will gather August 7th in San Diego at the National Doctors Tea Party (www.DoctorsTeaParty.com). U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle, radio personality Roger Hedgecock, and many other prominent opponents of government-run medicine will speak.
Simultaneous doctor-run tea parties will be held in New Jersey and other locations across the U.S.
Two San Diego physicians, alarmed by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the misconception that doctors support it, are organizing the event. "It is time to let people know why we think the Administration is steering medicine in the wrong direction," said Dr. Wayne Iverson. "We want the public to know that the American Medical Association does not speak for all doctors," added Dr. Adam Dorin. "Only 17% of practicing physicians belong to the AMA."
Physicians oppose ObamaCare for many reasons. Government bureaucrats, not patients and doctors, will decide what treatment options will be available. Doctors will be forced to accept payments that do not cover the cost of care, driving many out of practice and leaving fewer doctors to see more patients. Patients will face longer wait times for medical care. New regulations will bankrupt insurance companies, leaving only a government option. With Donald Berwick, an advocate of government rationing in charge, radical changes in Medicare may make seniors the first and hardest hit by ObamaCare. Huge cost overruns and diminished access already plague the ObamaCare model for mandatory health insurance in Massachusetts.
ObamaCare is incompatible with the best interest of patients. "We support Rep. Steve King's HR 4972 which calls for total and full repeal of the PPACA," said Dr. Iverson.
