DNC Chairman Tim Kaine's Statement on Earth Day

"This Earth Day, I join Americans across the country in celebrating our nation's rich environmental resources and thinking critically about what we can do to preserve those resources for future generations. In the forty years since the first Earth Day celebrations, Americans created the Environmental Protection Agency and enacted legislation to clean our skies and our waters. We have made a lot of progress, but we must continue to take steps toward a greener, more sustainable future.
"President Obama has made it clear that his Administration will make every effort to secure that future. He is working to end our dependence of foreign oil and support new clean sources of energy. He is committed to addressing the causes of global warming. And he is working hard to protect and preserve America's natural landmarks and environmental treasures. I applaud the President and Democrats in Congress for their continued efforts to create green jobs and build a sustainable economy."
