Stephanie Czerny: "I am looking forward to meeting the outstanding women and men who will discuss the influence of the digital sphere on various areas of life at our future conference. At DLDwomen, focus on topics that have the most radical effects on the lives of women: the future of work, healthcare, and education. Furthermore, we present women as a specific target group in the digital markets. 'Breaking New Ground' refers to both the atmosphere of renewal and the disruptive element entailed in this period of change."
New business models, new success formulas in business, better access to educational systems with revised contents, milestones in technology and the natural sciences that are revolutionizing plans for our future lives: the digital era offers a multitude of challenges we need to recognize and take advantage of. As an innovation conference, DLDwomen provides a stage to women who have identified opportunities and have become role models, and presents further areas women will need to conquer. At DLDwomen 2013, CEOs, scientists, managers, tech pioneers, founders, artists, innovative thinkers and writers will discuss the following topics:
How will work be defined in the future?
Globalization and networking are requiring communication, cooperation and sharing. Competition, selfishness and traditional hierarchical thinking are about to become obsolete in the digital age. Will growth remain the vital parameter or will striving for happiness replace our former striving for growth? Ursula von der Leyen will be discussing with panelists such as Yahoo!'s head of strategy Jackie Reses about what will be the jobs of the future. In her keynote address, Viviane Reding will call on Europe to wake up and comment on the ongoing debate about data privacy. The chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank, Paul Achleitner, will enter into an exchange with investment expert Sonali de Rycker about successful diversity models that go beyond the established promotion programs for women; Lufthansa CFO Simone Menne and the speaker of the management board of HVB, Theodor Weimer, will talk about power and leadership skills in a time of change.
What effect does the media image of women have?
Media companies and ad agencies define the image of women in the media and thus their role in society. Celebrities' using Twitter and the like can influence public perception more strongly; at the same time, the general public participates even more directly in what is going on. Producer Nico Hofmann, media manager Julia Jäkel, Watchever CEO Sabine Anger and Erika Hoholick, whose 'Dove - Real Beauty' initiative has been on of the most memorable advertising campaigns of our time, together with psychologist and feminist Susie Orbach will discuss their influence as producers of the female image. The panel will be chaired by actress and physician Maria Furtwängler-Burda.
What does the technological and medical progress mean for life planning?
With the invention of the birth control pill as an early milestone, social freezing is now taking women's self-determination to an entirely new level: The female egg is taken out at its most fertile stage, frozen and only unfrozen again when a pregnancy fits in with a woman's life planning. Carl Djerrassi, the inventor of the birth control pill, and hormone researcher Anneliese Schwenkhagen will discuss the question where this new step in biological omnipotence is leading us.
Are women the future of e-commerce?
The most important target group, women with their great affinity to online shopping have a major share in ensuring the success of e-commerce. The arising new business models, such as LYST and Mytheresa.com, do not only flourish because of the purchasing power of women but are also developed and led successfully by women. How to launch successful digital strategies for luxury brands will be explained by fashion icons such as Laudomia Pucci, representatives of major fashion brands like Von Arnim and Jimmy Choo, as well as hip designers such as Mary Katrantzou.
