"We are pleased to grow our partnership with MediaTek to certify their MT5392P DTV chip for DivX Plus HD playback," said Matt Milne, Executive Vice President and General Manager, DivX. "Our DivX Plus HD Certification program maximizes the home theater experience for end users by guaranteeing high-quality playback of all digital video files, including MKV."
"Today's digital TV market is increasingly competitive, and adding new advanced functionality such as DivX Plus HD video playback will help differentiate our platform and meet demand from our digital TV manufacturer customers," said Mr. Ryan Chen, GM of Digital TV BU, MediaTek.
DivX has seen significant momentum in the DTV space and has now partnered with the top two DTV IC companies for DivX Plus HD Certification. In addition, DivX works with nine of the top 12 DTV OEMs worldwide, and more than half of all DivX Certified DTVs are certified to playback HD content.
MediaTek is a worldwide industry leader, and its MT5392P chip is a full-featured multimedia solution for home entertainment. This is MediaTek's second DivX Plus HD Certified chip, following the certification of the MT8530 Blu-ray Disc player chip in 2009.
DivX Plus HD Certification is the premium level of certification available from DivX, optimized for consumer electronics products and supporting the playback of all content created with DivX software. Available on www.divx.com, DivX Plus Software allows users to create and playback H.264 video in an .mkv file container.
