DivDat Kiosk Network Marks One Million Transactions
Payment of Detroit water bill sparks 1 millionth transaction since inception of the no-fee bill payment system in August of 2017.
DETROIT, Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- DivDat Kiosk Network, an innovation company that is committed to no-fee, convenient payment systems for essential bills, has reached a milestone marking the 1 millionth kiosk transaction on the tech firm's network of more than 40 kiosks, it was announced today.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have reached this milestone," said Jason Bierkle, President of the DivDat Kiosk Network. "Metro Detroiters are using the kiosks for payment of their bills in record numbers and this one millionth transaction reflects the acceptance we have in the market."
People are using the DivDat Kiosk Network to pay DTE Energy, Wayne County delinquent tax bills, City of Detroit current tax bills and Detroit Water and Sewerage bills at kiosks located in the biller offices, Rite Aid Pharmacies, allied independent stores and various community centers located throughout Metro Detroit. The kiosks accept cash, personal checks or credit cards for payments.
"We are projecting that the no-fee kiosks will save Detroiters and all users in Southeastern Michigan more than $3 million in so-called convenience fees," Bierkle said. "That's money in people's pockets that would have gone to check cashing and other predatory fee agencies. Our entrepreneurial social mission is that people shouldn't have to pay to pay their bills."
"Our focus on bringing on new billers and transactions have been growing by some 15-percent per month," said Brian Unger, Vice President of Information Technology for the DivDat Kiosk Network. "The one millionth transaction is a testament to the reliability and ease of use of the kiosk network – we are gearing up for the 2 million mark!"
Unger said the high-tech tracking of all bill payments on the DivDat Kiosk Network includes 24-hour monitoring, 7 days per week. He added that the use of the kiosks is actually higher with many people checking on the status of their bills via the kiosk account look-up feature, without actually making a payment.
The DivDat Kiosk Network was deployed on a beta test basis with DTE Energy in 2014. The network has grown to include multiple billers allowing people to use personal checks, credit cards or cash to pay their bills at convenient locations located in neighborhoods throughout Metro Detroit. An estimated 75,000 transactions per month are taking place on the DivDat Kiosk Network as of July 2017.
