According to the Scrubbing Bubbles® Dirty Work Index(1), a comprehensive national study, more than half of women (55 percent) clean to control germs and keep the home healthy. The study also discovered that women today clean for their own emotional well-being. They report feeling accomplished (91 percent), relieved (87 percent) and proud (81 percent) after cleaning their homes and have confidence that they can entertain at a moment's notice.
"I connect with thousands of women daily and constantly hear that cleaning is not only a source of stress-relief for them but also a source of pride. Women feel so much better about themselves once the job is done, knowing their homes are presentable for guests and healthy for their families," said Colleen Padilla, founder of ClassyMommy.com. "As a mom of two, I know it can be hard to keep up with the cleaning. To help moms start the year off right, I teamed up with Scrubbing Bubbles® to provide tips and solutions to get the job done quickly and easily so moms can have a healthier, happier home in 2011."
Padilla says the key to feeling satisfaction and accomplishment is to make cleaning a less-dreaded task. Turn your resolutions into action with Padilla's New Year's tips:
- Form a daily routine. Nothing is worse than facing a house that has been neglected all week. Set a 15 minute rule to keep things tidy and neat on a daily basis.
- Kill germs! More than half of women are looking to fight bacteria to keep their homes healthy. Keep germ-killing products like Scrubbing Bubbles® Antibacterial Bathroom Wipes at the ready. These wipes kill up to 99.9 percent of bacteria(2), can be used on all surfaces and flushed down the toilet for easy disposal.
- Make the job fun! Consider ways to spice up your cleaning routine. The Dirty Work Index found that almost all women (90 percent) report listening to music while they clean, nearly half sing (47 percent) or watch TV (45 percent). Cleaning can even burn a few extra calories or be a time to catch up with friends, with one third of women saying they dance (27 percent) or talk on the phone (34 percent) while cleaning.
Padilla has partnered with Scrubbing Bubbles® as a member of the Dirty Work Panel(3) alongside Donna Erickson, host of the PBS show, "Donna's Day," and Michele Adams and Gia Russo, founders of Momologie.com. Together, the panel is working to reveal the dirt behind cleaning and unlock secrets to keeping a clean and healthy home year-round.
