Diesel Truck Driver Training School Helping to Fill the Truck Driver Shortage in the United States
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis., May 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States is currently facing a shortage of long and short haul truck drivers and the shortage is projected to worsen over the next ten years. Diesel Truck Driver Training School is working to fill this shortage by providing Commercial Driver's License training courses for prospective truck drivers.
According to a recent study prepared for American Trucking Associates, the United States currently faces a shortage of qualified truck drivers which is projected to continue and in fact worsen over the coming years. The demand for truck drivers has increased by about 10% over the past year and some analysts have projected the shortage could grow to as many as 400,000 drivers nationwide by 2012.
The problem is made worse due to the recent storm season which has dramatically increased the need for truck drivers to carry away debris from storm damaged sites and bring in materials to help rebuild the affected areas.
Diesel Truck Driver Training School is helping workers take advantage of this labor shortage by offering full and part time courses which are designed to prepare students for employment in the trucking industry.
The school offers both two and four week Commercial Driver's License (CDL) courses along with some weekend programs as well. Career Services are provided for successful students to help them find employment at one of the over 10,000 trucking companies in the school's database.
There are also free basic preparation classes for students who wish to learn the requirements of the CDL exam and online instruction for those who do not require hands on instruction.
In addition to comprehensive driver skills training, Diesel Truck Driver Training School also provides training in such "soft" skills as employment application procedures, networking techniques and instruction on how to succeed in job interviews.
The school offers financial assistance for qualified students and will also arrange for housing during the length of the course at the WaterTower Residence Inn in Sun Prairie.
According to recent statistics, the starting salary for commercial truck drivers in the United States is about $38,000, with experienced drivers earning $65,000 or more.
