Dickey's Barbecue Pit Challenges Eric "Silo" Dahl with Nine Pounds of Food
Dahl has 44 Minutes to Consume Nine Pounds of Food
ROGERS, Minn., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Eric "Silo" Dahl storms his way back into Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Rogers to win yet another title.
"Dickey's has been very hospitable in the past and I was going to be back in Minnesota for my break between college semesters so I figured it would be a great opportunity," said Dahl. "Also, no one has ever completed it so that always adds to the excitement!"
This Wednesday, January 11th around 5 p.m. at 14165 James Road, Dahl will be taking on the newest Dickey's challenge—"The Monster 44." Dahl will have to eat nine pounds of food made up of four pounds of meat, four pints of sides and four rolls in less than 44 minutes.
"I am hoping to go under 15 minutes. I did an eight pound burger, one pound of fries, and a 20oz soda in 35 minutes, but I believe Dickey's will go down a lot quicker," said Dahl.
On October 18, 2011 in honor of Dickey's 70th anniversary Dickey's Barbecue Pit held its National Barbecue Eating Contest at its first location at 4610 N. Central Expressway in Dallas, Texas. Dahl devoured 12.5 of Dickey's Southern pulled pork big barbecue sandwiches in a remarkable 6 minutes and was crowned winner.
