NEW YORK, March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New York advertising agency DeVito/Verdi took home a total of thirteen honors at last week's Racie Awards, the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association's annual award show that recognizes the best retail ads, commercials, digital work and other retail-marketing efforts.
Receiving more awards than any other Agency, DeVito/Verdi competed against marketing-communications from JCPenney, Macys, Sears, Kmart and many other major players.
The Agency swept the radio and magazine categories on behalf of Legal Sea Foods, walking away with silver and bronze honors for its punchy radio spots "Boss" and "Nursing Home." For print magazine executions, "Wine", which read —"Wine Gets Better with Age. Fish Not So Much"— received gold; meanwhile, "Reservation" and "Main Course" took silver and bronze, respectively.
Legal Sea Foods also picked up several other accolades including two silvers and a bronze for its outdoor work, as well as a bronze in the single broadcast media campaign category for its humorous spot entitled, "Man/Bear/Bird."
Honors for the optical retailer For Eyes also had the Agency seeing gold. The cheeky television commercial "Librarian" took top honors as a short single broadcast spot; a bronze award was also received in the same category for "Wife." Additionally, the 15-second commercial entitled "Miracle" took bronze for its achievements as a single broadcast media campaign.
"This year saw an impressive display of creativity across a variety of retail categories," said Ellis Verdi, president of DeVito/Verdi, "and our continued success at the Racie Awards remains a testament to our creative strengths in retail advertising."
Elsewhere, an agency-created daily print-wrap for the popular New York drugstore, Duane Reade, won bronze in the newspaper category.
