Devin Crane: Dreams, Fashion & Fairy Tales Exhibition at Galerie Arludik in Paris, France, September 5th-October, 2013
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Los Angeles-born African American fine artist Devin Crane will unveil a dazzling new collection in Paris, France, at the prestigious Galerie Arludik, opening September 5th, 2013.
For the first time Devin Crane will offer a rare opportunity to see his captivating drawings along with new paintings. The reason for an emphasis on drawings in this exhibition is that Devin wanted to excite his audience with a side of him never exhibited before. "Drawings are honest. You can't hide like you can with painting. It's your soul up there for everyone to see and I am excited by that." -Devin Crane
Devin used "dangerous" animals in many of the drawings & paintings in the collection as metaphors for sexuality, strength and beauty. The motifs of jungles and safaris appear in many of the works, as well as representing adventure and the high fashion dream world. The painting, "Dangerous Beauty" contemplates the fear of starting a new adventure and the perceived dangers that often stand in the way. "Would you give up life's comforts for a fresh start at happiness?" The drawing, "Belle et la Bete" depicts the beauty and fragility of love. The castle hidden in the clouds adds to the fairy tale we are taught as children and look to create as adults.
Devin has established an enormous following worldwide among art collectors and jetsetters alike including; Cee Lo Green, top executives from Hermes & L'Oreal Paris, Frederic Dubois, Pierre Cornette (Auctioneer), Doug and Lydia McLaughlin (Real Housewives of OC & Media Moguls), and many other prestigious buyers & celebrities.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, artist Devin Crane is one of the most prolific and compelling artists of his generation. His work has been featured at important galleries in LA and Europe. While pursuing his love of painting, Devin lends his talents to DreamWorks Animation. 2010 & 2011 Crane was the official poster artist for the Mougins Masters Golf Tournament. Crane has also had the honor of exhibiting at the prestigious Art Auction by Maitre Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr in Paris. Crane is well known for his ability to create visionary images that are at once beautiful, humorous & provocative. www.DevinCrane.com
