FREMONT, Calif., May 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Device Authority, a Silicon Valley security start-up, today announced that it has been included in the list of "Cool Vendors" in the Identity and Access Management, 2015 report by Gartner, Inc. The report offers IAM, CISOs and other security leaders with a unique perspective on five innovative vendors providing new approaches and technologies to secure identity and access management.
The report highlights a number of key findings and notes that, "The Internet of Things (IoT) creates new populations of users that require authentication just as people do. However, because 'knowledge' and 'biometric' factors apply only to people, IAM leaders must consider other options to achieve higher-trust, 'two-factor' authentication for things." The report also finds "Things are entities that people interact with, and such interactions demand that people can authenticate themselves to things. Thus, IAM leaders will need to find authentication methods that can be integrated with things as well as endpoint devices, business applications and so on."
"We believe our inclusion in Gartner's Cool Vendor report confirms that advanced device-based authentication solutions can address the growing need for Cloud, Mobility and IoT access security," said Talbot Harty, CEO of Device Authority. "Reliable, mass-adoptable M2M authentication is a game-changing approach for identifying and authenticating devices to prevent unauthorized access," he added. Device Authority is currently working with enterprise and government organizations to address a wide variety of access security challenges, including virtual desktop and virtual mobile infrastructure, single sign-on, remote access and IoT solutions.
