Department of Defense Verifies Fusion-io SureErase Tool
Fusion-io Data Sanitization Tools Meet DISA Requirements for the Protection of Sensitive Data in Secure Deployments, Such as Military and Government
SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fusion-io Inc., (NYSE: FIO), pioneer of shared data decentralization, today announced that its new SureErase data sanitization tool has been confirmed as meeting Department of Defense sanitization standards by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Added to Fusion's storage memory platform through the company's VSL software, SureErase enables users to securely remove/erase (or zeroize) all data on any ioMemory-based technology, following DoD/NIST standards, regardless of capacity, in less than one minute.
"Given the importance of data security for both public and private institutions, we are pleased to be able to offer our customers storage memory technologies that deliver industry-leading performance as well as mission-critical data protection validated by the Department of Defense," said Neil Carson, Fusion-io Chief Technology Officer. "As both military and civilian operations become more data intensive, accelerating application performance is critical, but data security remains equally crucial to protecting our nation and allies."
DISA is a Department of Defense (DoD) combat support agency that delivers information technology to enhance the capabilities of the nation's warfighters and those who support them in national defense. DISA is responsible for planning, engineering, acquiring, fielding, and supporting global net-centric solutions, and serves as a standards body for military-grade data security requirements. Testing of Fusion-io SureErase was conducted by the DISA Multinational Information Sharing Program Management Office (MNIS PMO).
Once the test was completed, DISA confirmed that a Fusion ioDrive was successfully sanitized in accordance with the NSA/CSS Storage Device Declassification Manual and declassified from a secret to unclassified environment. This testing demonstrates that Fusion-io SureErase fulfills U.S. government standards for the "Clear" functionality, performing a full, low-level chip erase; and "Purge," overwriting all addressable locations with a single character, followed by performing a full chip erase.

About Fusion-io
Fusion-io has pioneered a next generation storage memory platform for shared data decentralization that significantly improves the processing capabilities within a datacenter by relocating process-critical, or "active", data from centralized storage to the server where it is being processed, a methodology referred to as data decentralization. Fusion's integrated hardware and software solutions leverage non-volatile memory to significantly increase datacenter efficiency and offers enterprise grade performance, reliability, availability and manageability. Fusion's data decentralization platform can transform legacy architectures into next generation datacenters and allows enterprises to consolidate or significantly reduce complex and expensive high performance storage, high performance networking and memory-rich servers. Fusion's platform enables enterprises to increase the utilization, performance and efficiency of their datacenter resources and extract greater value from their information assets.
