Denali Adds New Line of Extruded Products to Growing Ice Cream Ingredients Capabilities
NEW BERLIN, Wis., April 21/PRNewswire/ -- Denali Ingredients, LLC expands its cache of ice cream ingredient offerings today with the introduction of a new line of extruded products, adding brownie bits, cookie dough pieces, cheesecake pieces and other decadent offerings to its growing line of dairy and ice cream ingredients products. Denali Ingredients Extruded Products are available immediately and are developed to individual customer specification.
The ice cream "extruded product" market -- an unbaked, soft ingredient that is often formed into cubes or shapes -- is a growing segment due in part to increasing consumer demand for decadent ice cream varieties. Denali Ingredients is just one of four or five manufacturers in the U.S. to offer these unique products that remain soft and chewy despite extreme frozen conditions.
Denali Ingredients' new extruded products come just eight months after the Company's New Berlin, Wis. facility added a line of stabilizers to its core products. Denali continues to be a leading supplier of chocolate coatings, fudge sauces, powders, fruit variegates and other ingredients for the dairy, ice cream, and food service industries.
"Denali Ingredients has always stood for fair pricing, consistent quality and unparalleled order fulfillment," said Neal Glaeser, president of Denali Ingredients. "The extruded dough products add another product technology in which we can apply these same principles to better meet the growing interest in decadent and unusual ice cream flavor combinations."
Denali invested more than $3.5 million to develop the necessary production equipment used in making its new extruded products. This is in addition to a $2 million expansion last summer that increased raw ingredients storage capabilities by 80 percent and included construction of a state-of-the-art pilot lab to allow customers to run simulated production in "miniature" scale to better test concepts before going into full production.
Total investment in the New Berlin facility during the past 12 months exceeded $5 million, and an estimated 12 new jobs were also created during this period.
The 110,000-square-foot Denali Ingredients facility produces more than 40 million pounds of ice cream and dairy ingredients each year.
Glaeser expects the Company's extrusion line to expand quickly: "It's a whole new ingredients world for us, and we're going to have fun with it. I imagine our talented R&D group will develop some really unique extruded products in the near future."
