Demilec USA Celebrates as Home Construction Rises
Building contractors are keeping busy as home construction rates see increases across much of Wisconsin. Top foam insulation manufacturer Demilec USA comments on how demand for construction also drives the supply of building supplies.
ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A Journal Sentinel article reports instances of new home construction are on the rise across Wisconsin's populous metro areas. The findings are good news for a housing market that has been attempting a nearly six-year resurgence. In a statement to the press, Demilec USA noted the importance of these figures to both building contractors and suppliers.
The article shared statistics indicating new home building permit requests increased by 33.7 percent from August 2011 to August 2012. The data, from MTD Marketing Services of Wisconsin Inc., looked at permits for single-family homes and duplexes. It focused on urban areas like Milwaukee, Racine-Kenosha and Green Bay County. In August 2011, 249 permits were requested, notes the article. Additionally, just one year later, contractors requested 333 permits. Across Milwaukee, permits rose by just seven from 97 to 104.
Quoted in the article is MTD's Dominic Collar. About the positive growth, he stated, "Our weekly research indicates continued improvement with a good mix of contract, spec and model homes. We have also noted a return of a number of builders to new home construction over the last eight months."
According to the article, other areas like Racine-Kenosha and Fox Valley experienced nearly double-digit growth. The article reports Fox Valley permit requests grew from 33 to 60. Furthermore, contractors requested 31 permits for the Racine-Kenosha area. This number was up from just 15 in the prior year.
As construction rates rise, so will the need for building materials such as insulation. Popular manufacturer of spray foam insulation products, Demilec USA, commented: "Considering Wisconsin's cold climate, insulation and the building envelope are very important decisions for homeowners and builders in this market. Spray foam insulation offers many advantages to help reduce energy bills and operating costs, while improving interior comfort. DEMILEC USA sees the growth of this market as a positive sign toward developing new business relationships."
The article notes total permits for January through August 2012 increased by 17.9 percent compared to previous years' time frame. Despite this improvement, permit requests remain well below the peak levels experienced before the housing market bust. Prior to 2005, over 850 permits were requested across Wisconsin's largest metro areas, reports the article.
