The DataStax Community Edition for Windows is one of the first offerings in the New Year to be introduced by the company and builds on a successful 2011 that saw Cassandra move into the mainstream and power innovative products delivered by DataStax that address the scalability, ease-of-use, and performance needed by big data applications. The new free offering will provide a smart graphical installer for Windows that bundles the latest edition of Cassandra, all key utilities including the Cassandra Query Language (CQL) interface, and an updated version of DataStax OpsCenter Community Edition.
For Mac developers, DataStax OpsCenter is being made available on that platform for the first time. Both the new Windows bundle and the Mac Version of DataStax OpsCenter are immediately available on the company's website downloads page.
"We want to ensure we're doing everything possible to make Cassandra easy-to-use for developers," said Jonathan Ellis, co-founder and CTO, DataStax and Apache Cassandra chair. "The new Windows installer and Mac support for OpsCenter make it possible for developers to get up and running with Cassandra in just a few minutes."
Customers this year continue to choose Cassandra over competing solutions because of its high-performance with linear scalability, no single points of failure, multi-data center support, and dynamic schema capabilities. Combining these features along with native optimization for the cloud and the ability to easily tackle big data workloads makes Cassandra the NoSQL platform of choice for enterprise-class, mission-critical applications. The new DataStax Community Edition for Windows and Mac support for DataStax OpsCenter makes it easier for developers to create and deploy applications that target those big data systems.
