DASH7 Alliance Launches Certification Program for DASH7-Interoperable Products and Services
Interoperability and Standards Compliance Testing and Certification to be Delivered Through Partnership with MET Labs
SAN RAMON, Calif., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The DASH7 Alliance™, a coalition of organizations promoting a standard for wireless sensor networks, today announced a new program that will validate products and services that adhere to the ISO 18000-7 (DASH7) standard. The new certification program will help manufacturers, developers and integrators ensure interoperability between wireless sensor networking solutions.
The comprehensive testing and certification program will be run by MET Laboratories, a company that provides extensive testing and consulting services for manufacturers and consumers of wireless products and systems. MET will also accredit other test labs around the world that seek to become approved DASH7 Certification test centers.
"We founded the DASH7 Alliance as a means to independently ensure interoperability across DASH7 devices," said Patrick Burns, DASH7 Alliance president. "This is absolutely critical to the wide-scale adoption of wireless sensor networking. MET brings a great reputation, a deep knowledge of wireless test and certification processes, and a global footprint we plan to leverage almost immediately to allow users to buy 'DASH7 Certified' devices this year."
DASH7 Certification will take place initially at MET Labs offices in the US. The Alliance has plans to expand, establishing testing facilities in Asia and the European Union later this year. DASH7 Certification includes a range of tests to ensure conformance with the ISO 18000-7 standard as well as to ensure interoperability of DASH7 devices.
"The testing services that MET will provide for DASH7 developers are natural extensions of MET's experience in providing compliance testing for passive RFID, Bluetooth and other wireless technologies," said Rob Frier, president of MET Laboratories. "We have an exciting opportunity to work with developers on innovative applications for DASH7 technology, making sure that their applications work with each other."
DASH7 certification and use of the DASH7 Certified logo is only available through the DASH7 Alliance. For more information, visit www.dash7.org . Organizations interested in becoming test and certification labs for DASH7 devices should send an email to [email protected].
