Daojia Completes $50M Series D Funding Led by JD.com and Macquarie
BEIJING, Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Beijing Shishang Renjia Networks Technology Co. Ltd. ("Daojia.com.cn" or "Daojia"), a leading online food ordering and delivery service provider in China, announced today that it has successfully completed its series D round of financing, raising US$50 million. JD.com (NASDAQ: JD), a leading B2C e-commerce company in China, and Macquarie Capital co-led the investment.
"We are delighted to receive this latest round of fundraising which will enable Daojia to invest in and upgrade our core restaurant delivery services to better serve our rapidly growing customer base," said Mr. Hao Sun, Daojia's Founder and CEO. "We are focused on strengthening our technology infrastructure to help us reach our target of operating in 20 to 30 cities in China by next year."
"We believe that O2O has excellent potential to become the future of e-commerce, and we are delighted to expand our investment in Daojia, which is a clear leader in the rapidly growing restaurant delivery services sector," said Mr. Bin Chang, JD.com's Vice President of Corporate Development.
Daojia is a self-operated, community-based delivery network operating in eight major cities in China. With nearly one million registered customers, the company primarily focuses on restaurant food delivery, which has traditionally been an underserviced sector in China. Daojia takes orders through its apps, website and call centers.
This marks Daojia's fourth round of fundraising, with the previous round having completed in September 2013. JD.com participated in the Series C round of investment last year.
