Receiving the CES Innovations 2016 Design and Engineering Honoree Award, Smart Alarm Detector Connects Existing Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms to the Internet
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- INTERNATIONAL CES -- D-Link today announced the mydlink® Smart Alarm Detector (DCH-S165), a Wi-Fi based detector that monitors and identifies the sounds of standard UL-certified smoke or CO alarms. Expanding D-Link's award-winning Connected Home ecosystem, the Smart Alarm Detector plugs into an electrical outlet to create an integrated home safety1 solution, without the cost and hassle of installing new smoke or CO detectors.
"For the last 35 years, at least one smoke detector has been required in homes to notify residents of a fire. What happens when no one is home to hear the alarm?" said Ken Loyd, Director of Product Marketing, D-Link. "Available for less than a single wireless smoke alarm, the mydlink Smart Alarm Detector provides a simple, cost-friendly solution that sends mobile notifications when you're away from home for added peace of mind. The Smart Alarm Detector is ideal for second homes or additional protection for monitoring an elderly parent."
Designed with integrated Wi-Fi, the Smart Alarm Detector easily connects to your existing Wi-Fi network and works with any UL-certified smoke and CO alarms. By placing the Detector within 50 feet of your smoke or CO alarms, it accurately detects the temporal sounds from the smoke and CO alarms and sends a mobile push notification if either of the alarms sound. All of the D-Link Connected Home solutions, including the Smart Alarm Detector, work with the free mydlink Home app for iOS® and Android® smartphones and tablets, allowing users to control devices all from one screen. The mydlink Home app also makes it simple to create actions between devices. For instance, when the Smart Alarm detects an alarm, a Smart Plug can turn on a light, and users can view video with a mydlink Home Camera. With IFTTT (If This Then That) integration, the Smart Alarm Detector can also be linked to hundreds of favorite apps and devices for a customized smart home solution.
