Crowdsourcing a New Name for Creative Crowdsourcing
GeniusRocket and 99designs Turn to the Crowd to Rename 'Crowdsourcing' for the Creative Community
BETHESDA, Md., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- How would two of the leading creative crowdsourcing companies go about renaming the word "crowdsourcing?" By crowdsourcing it, of course. Today GeniusRocket is announcing a partnership with 99designs to further define the word "crowdsourcing" and better communicate the power of crowdsourcing in the creative community.
"The fact of the matter is that the term 'crowdsourcing' has just become too vague," says GeniusRocket CEO Mark Walsh. "We want a term that describes the power the global creative community can provide, not just a business industry buzzword." As one of the companies leading the creative crowdsourcing evolution, GeniusRocket links the creative community with marketers, harnessing the potential of the creative crowd while still providing project management and agency-level service.
The project, "Are You a Dick...But Really Wish People Would Call You Richard?," asks participants to think about what crowdsourcing means to the creative community and the businesses that use it, and how the creative crowdsourcing model will continue to drive innovation in marketing and branding. Then, suggest a new name that describes the growing industry now and will last as it evolves.
The submission period will be open for 45 days and the creative with the best idea will receive $1,000. A panel of judges, including executives from GeniusRocket and 99designs will evaluate all entries and narrow it down to 20 finalists. After that, the selection will be open for judging by the crowd. The final word choice will be selected by popular vote and announced on the site. The site will also be open to public discussion.
