CrimeReports.com Launches Next Generation Social Utility, 'Neighborhood Central'
Public Safety Goes Social For The First Time As Crime Reports Launches Next Generation Crime Prevention Tools.
SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CrimeReports.com, the leading provider of online crime mapping, anonymous tipping and analytics tools, today announced the launch of the next generation of CrimeReports.com. Just in time for National Night out, the new service is designed to revolutionize the way communities, businesses, and law enforcement agencies work together to prevent crime.
The updated CrimeReports.com, maintains all the functionality that helped make it the world's most popular crime mapping tool, while introducing a number of new features that evolve the service into a true social utility. The site now connects community groups, businesses, and law enforcement at a hyper-local level. Leveraging existing social networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter, CrimeReports.com will allow law enforcement agencies to integrate all their community outreach tools into one seamless utility. "We're very excited about this next evolution of CrimeReports," said Greg Whisenant, Founder and CEO of CrimeReports.com. "This is the first social networking tool designed specifically to meet the needs of law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. This newest product innovation was developed in conjunction with our law enforcement partners to provide world class crime-fighting tools while considering the demands of an increasingly social and tech-savvy public."
Already being tested by over a dozen law enforcement agencies nation-wide, the new CrimeReports.com allows users to create and manage groups and neighborhoods directly on the same map where crime and sex offender information is displayed. Users can add friends and neighbors, organize and communicate with those neighborhood groups, and share information directly with each other, as well as local law enforcement.
CrimeReports' recent acquisition of TipSoft will also allow the company to integrate anonymous dialogues between tipsters and law enforcement directly into the experience. "The ability for a law enforcement agency to manage all of their community messaging, emergency alerting, and anonymous tip management into a single dashboard is really a revolution, allowing them to be much more efficient and do more with less," said Whisenant.
"We started with a crime map, added cutting edge analytics and are now opening new channels of communication to the public," said Scott Kinzie, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Strategy for CrimeReports. "We anticipate the increased community involvement facilitated by this tool will result in an appreciable positive impact to community safety. Law enforcement will now be able to send targeted messages to individual community members and entire neighborhoods and receive the same types of communications in return."
The new functionality is available in beta form today by visiting CrimeReports.com and the company will be rolling out new features over the next few weeks, with a full release anticipated in mid September.
