Cresco Labs Will Spend A Million Dollars To Let People Know About Illinois Medical Marijuana Program
CHICAGO, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Illinois' largest approved grower of medical marijuana announced aggressive plans Wednesday for a multi-tiered marketing campaign designed to educate potential patients and provide them the tools needed to register for the state's new Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis program.
Cresco Labs says its outreach campaign, which will target people who have been diagnosed with any of the approved 36 conditions, will include significant spends in print advertising, radio commercials, billboards, social media and health-related publications. They have also launched a new comprehensive website, www.crescolabs.com, that will provide both patients and doctors a "go-to" resource for research, products, cannabis-based treatments and animated how-to videos to answer patients questions.
"This is a new program and leaders in the industry need to step up to shape its future," said Cresco's President Rob Sampson. "We intend on letting people know about it, telling them how and why it works and how to sign up so they can begin to get the medical relief they've been waiting for," he added.
Cresco's self-funded, "State of Relief" campaign, will create much needed awareness with the first round of creative targeting the conditions of pain, nausea and diminished appetite. Cresco previewed initial creative for the first phase of the campaign which included a swimming pool shaped like Illinois with the message "Welcome To A State of Relief: Medical Cannabis is here and it's not what you think." An additional piece featured a runner with her face appearing on the Medical Cannabis Identification Card with the copy "Pretty soon we'll all just be calling it medicine." Cresco has already placed full-page ads in CS Magazine and provided an insert to all 40,000+ participant bags for the Chicago Marathon. The creative elements of the campaign can be viewed and shared at www.crescolabs.com/ads.
Patients that have been diagnosed with any of the approved debilitating conditions can apply for participation in the program through the Illinois Department of Public Health website or at crescolabs.com.
Cresco Labs received the three highest scores in the state's very rigorous application process and will be opening cultivation facilities in Joliet, Kankakee and Lincoln, Illinois. Combined, their three facilities make them the largest medical marijuana producer in the state where they will develop a unique array of products ranging from high CBD strains, vapor oils, derma patches, pills as well as a unique line of gourmet ingestible products.
