Cox's Award Winning 'Homecoming' Features the Truman and Iwo Jima Groups in Latest Special
~ Premieres Sun., Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. ~
CHESAPEAKE, Va., Jan. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Channel 11 continues its support of military families with the latest episode of "Homecoming: A Cox Video Diary," a snapshot of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group and USS Iwo Jima assault group homecomings premiering on Sunday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
Join Cox from the docks, on the flight line, and at the base to capture the moment of return as some of the major recent deployments of local servicemen and servicewomen came to an end.
"This 30-minute special presentation gives us a chance to share and experience the reunion of local military personnel with their loved ones here at home. It is Cox's way of saying thank you to service men and women -- and just as importantly their families," says Leigh Woisard, Vice President of Cox Virginia Public Affairs.
The Truman CSG's 7,000 sailors spent seven months supporting maritime security operations and provided support for coalition forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Iwo Jima's humanitarian mission, Continuing Promise, provided medical and dental care, as well as assistance with public construction projects in the Caribbean and Central and South America.
Through emotional images and interviews captured on site, Cox 11 documents the story of the commitment and sacrifice, longing and joy that are connected with the long separations and missions overseas by these individuals and their families.
