Cosmetic Dermatology of Orange County Welcomes World's Most Advanced Technology for Tattoo Removal
Cynosure Inc. Premieres PicoSure with Cheryl L. Effron, M.D
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Cosmetic Dermatology of Orange County, office of Dr. Cheryl Effron, is one of the first in the nation to offer PicoSure, the world's most advanced tattoo removal treatment. This laser is designed to reduce the number of tattoo treatments needed to remove tattoos with its breakthrough Picosecond technology. Additionally, follow-up visits have revealed no scarring or additional pigment alteration.
"PicoSure's advanced technology provides us with the chance to erase tattoo pigment more efficiently with far less recovery time," states Dr. Effron. "After evaluating the technology and clinical results, I decided to offer PicoSure because it is the most advanced tattoo removal treatment on the market."
In development for nearly a decade, PicoSure is being introduced as the first safe and effective picosecond aesthetic laser specifically designed to treat tattoos, as well as other skin discolorations. Traditional nanosecond lasers predominately rely on photothermal action by delivering heat to the pigment and surrounding tissue. PicoSure takes advantage of the patented PressureWave™ technology, which causes greater disruption of the target ink into tiny particles for better clearance with fewer treatments.
A January 2012 poll by Harris Interactive showed that of the 21 percent of American adults who have a tattoo, a staggering 14 percent regret their decision to get one. In addition to those statistics, The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery reports that its doctors performed nearly 100,000 tattoo removal procedures last year, an increase of 14,000 from 2010. On average, it used to take 12-18 treatments to fully remove a tattoo, with the old technology. The PicoSure laser requires less than half of that. The laser's picosecond technology has proven efficacy on stubborn greens and blues as well as recalcitrant tattoos that surpass the results of other laser's on the market.
Patients see improvements immediately, and depending on the size and color of the tattoo may or may not require additional treatments.
