SALEM, Ore., Feb. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, has granted Corban University accreditation to the Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through March 2025. CACREP accreditation is among the highest acclaim that an academic program can receive in the counseling field.
"Achieving CACREP programmatic accreditation reaffirms the quality and strength of the counseling programs at Corban University," says Dr. Sheldon Nord, Corban University, president. "Our ability to enhance our students' educational experience by offering a rigorous program that meets educational requirements and prepares our graduates to become outstanding professionals in the counseling field is a true testament to the caliber of the program and its faculty."
CACREP recognized Corban University's counseling programs for substantially meeting the national standards set forth by the accrediting body. Graduates of CACREP-accredited programs ensure accountability to the profession's ethical standards and that Corban University counseling graduates have met requirements to apply for licensure as a professional counselor.
"The faculty members have worked hard to meet the CACREP standards for our students. We are excited to receive this honored accreditation. Our curriculum has been designed to meet these international standards and we are proud to have our programs and faculty recognized for their excellence," states Dr. Matt Lucas, EVP Provost.
As a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), CACREP grants accredited status to graduate-level programs in the professional counseling field. The CACREP scope of accreditation includes: addiction counseling; career counseling; clinical mental health counseling; marriage, couple and family counseling; school counseling, student affairs and college counseling; and counselor education and supervision.
