Connie's Pizza Stays Inside The Box To Raise Awareness For Breast Cancer
CHICAGO, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Connie's Pizza, one of Chicago's oldest family-owned pizzerias, has teamed up with the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital to launch a disruptive awareness campaign for breast cancer. To raise awareness, Connie's aims to provide the 40,000 Chicagoland households in its delivery reach with information relating to breast cancer. Delivery customers will find enclosed directions on how to properly self-perform a breast exam. The goal of including these instructions is to bring attention to the importance of detecting early to late stages of breast cancer. In addition, for every pizza delivered, Connie's will donate a portion of the delivery sale to aid in the continuing research of breast cancer.
"You can't find a person today who isn't or hasn't been affected by cancer. As a family-owned pizzeria, it's our mothers, sisters, and family members that have been touched by this issue, so we really wanted to raise awareness and help give what we can to the cause, one pizza at a time," said Connie's President Mike Stolfe.
This disruptive campaign strives to generate nationwide attention by encouraging other family-owned businesses to think outside the box (or in Connie's case, inside the box) to have a big impact on raising awareness and educate their customers about early detection and cancer prevention.
"We are very pleased to partner with Connie's Pizza in raising breast cancer awareness during the month of October. We all know women who have fought this terrible disease. Educating people about the importance of early detection is essential," said David Sack, Vice President of Northwestern Memorial Foundation.

About Connie's Pizza
Back in 1963, Jim Stolfe's Oldsmobile Starfire was exchanged for a small storefront pizzeria on 26th Street on Chicago's South Side. That storefront became the original home of Connie's Pizza, one of Chicago's most famous pizzerias. More than 50 years later, the Stolfe family restaurants have become iconic for visitors to Chicago, with a location in one of the city's most-visited venues, McCormick Place. From being the official pizza of the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Fire, and The Taste of Chicago, Connie's Pizza has become synonymous with the city, and prides itself on its longstanding family roots. It is this dedication and drive that has ensured that Connie's Pizza will be a name Chicago will remember forever.

Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.
