WASHINGTON, March 20, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Peter King (R-NY) will be presented with the 2015 Legislator of the Year Award by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA). The award will be presented March 26 during the association's 2015 Federal Legislative Summit (FLS).

"Congressman King has long been a leader on issues of importance to the national security of the United States, including on insurance issues," said PIA National Executive Vice President & CEO Mike Becker. "The congressman was one of the key drivers in the passage of the 2014 Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act (H.R. 3370) and has been a tireless advocate for flood insurance policyholders."

Rep. King is a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee in addition to his leadership roles on the Homeland Security Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He represents New York's 2nd Congressional District which covers portions of Nassau and Suffolk Counties including the south shore of Long Island. Prior to serving in Congress, Rep. King was elected to three terms as the Comptroller of Nassau County.
