TransCanada Corp. Analyst Notes
On June 4, 2014, TransCanada Corp.'s (TransCanada) wholly-owned subsidiary, NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL), announced that it has signed agreements with Chevron Canada Limited (CVX) and a wholly-owned and controlled partnership of Apache Canada Ltd. (APA) for approximately 1.9 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas transportation services. The transportation services are in line with the development of a major extension of the Company's NGTL system, which is a $1.9 billion project called Merrick Mainline Pipeline Project. The pipeline will link British Columbia's emerging liquefied natural gas (LNG) export market through the NGTL system to the inlet of CVX/APA's proposed Pacific Trail Pipeline, which will end at the Kitimat LNG Terminal at Bish Cove, near Kitimat, B.C. Russ Girling, TransCanada's President and CEO, said, "The Merrick Mainline Pipeline Project will be designed, constructed and operated utilizing TransCanada's extensive experience in developing safe and reliable energy infrastructure." Cloud Peak Energy Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 5, 2014, Cloud Peak Energy Inc. (Cloud Peak Energy) announced that it will begin its exploratory drilling, pursuant to the agreement signed on January 24, 2013 by the Crow Tribe of Indians and Big Metal Coal Co. LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cloud Peak Energy Inc. Todd Myers, Cloud Peak Energy's Senior Vice President, Business Development, said, "Since signing our agreements in 2013, Cloud Peak Energy has been working with Tribal regulators, BIA, the federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Crow landowners and non-Crow landowners, to obtain approvals, permits, and land access agreements to begin exploratory drilling. These permits, approvals and agreements ensure protection for landowners, historic and cultural sites, wildlife and the land. We received the required BIA approval of the exploration plan in April 2014 and have been waiting for the summer weather to start our confirmatory drilling program." The terms provide exclusive options to lease and develop Northern Powder River Basin coal on the Crow Indian Reservation in southeast Montana.
