Community Foundation Welcomes New VP of Programs
Nike Irvin leads department responsible for the distribution of $26 million annual competitive grants budget for nonprofit organizations serving L.A. County
LOS ANGELES, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- California Community Foundation (CCF) announced today the addition of Nike Irvin to its leadership team as the vice president of programs. Among her management responsibilities is providing strategic leadership in priority areas for the community foundation such as arts, education, health care, housing and neighborhoods, and human development, as well as special initiatives which include the Critical Needs Fund and the El Monte Community Building Initiative.
In her new capacity, Irvin oversees a team of more than a dozen professionals dedicated to assisting local nonprofit organizations become more effective and self-sustaining. Her department's resources include a budget for discretionary grants to nonprofits in excess of $26 million for the fiscal year.
Irvin comes to CCF well-equipped with more than 20 years of experience in both nonprofit leadership and consulting to numerous nonprofit organizations, foundations and charitable arms of for-profit companies and organizations. Prior to joining the community foundation serving all of Los Angeles County, Irvin served as president of the Riordan Foundation for seven years and as a consultant and coach for nonprofits and foundations.

Irvin serves on several boards of directors and is a trustee for regional and national organizations such as The Riordan Foundation and German Marshall Fund of the United States. Irvin is a graduate of Yale University and was also named one of the "100 Most Inspirational Alumni" by the UCLA Anderson School of Business, where she is an active alumna volunteer. She is also a recipient of numerous fellowships, including the Henry Crown Fellowship, Marshall Memorial Fellowship and Next Generation Fellowship of the American Assembly.
