College Football Playoff Collaborates with Jostens to Present Inaugural National Championship Ring
Exquisitely handcrafted ring celebrates first-ever college football playoff in sports history
MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The College Football Playoff (CFP) selected Jostens to create the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship ring. Designed by Jostens, a leading national custom jewelry designer and producer, the national championship ring commemorates and pays tribute to this historic event in college football.
"Jostens is honored to partner with the CFP to present the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship ring," said Chris Poitras, vice president, Jostens. "We are excited to unveil this beautiful ring that honors the championship team's achievement, their school as well as the fans who will celebrate their place in sports history."
Created by the Jostens Championship Design team, this custom designed, handcrafted ring features more than 50 cubic zirconias set in Silver Elite, Jostens' exclusive mix of fine metals. One side will feature the team personalization, and the other side will feature the CFP logo and additional team personalization.
"We are pleased that Jostens will be creating the College Football Playoff National Championship ring, as they did during the BCS," said College Football Playoff Executive Director Bill Hancock. "This will be a beautiful piece of jewelry which will be a tribute to a historic championship season and will provide the student-athletes with an enduring commemoration of their accomplishment."
In 2014, the College Football Playoff replaced the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Jostens has a proud history of serving as a trusted partner of the BCS since 2001, and the partnership with the CFP is a natural continuation of the partnership to create an exquisite national championship ring.
As millions of college football fans tune into ESPN on January 12, at 7:30 CST, two teams will enter AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to compete in the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship, with one team set to hoist the honorary College Playoff National Championship Trophy and receive their custom rings.
The Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) national champion will be determined during the 2014 season by a new postseason playoff structure. The top four teams have been chosen by the selection committee and will play in their respective semifinal bowl games, the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual and the Allstate Sugar Bowl, to determine who will advance to the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship.
