Coast Guard Foundation Public Service Announcement Premieres
Airings On The Discovery Channel's 2010 Deadliest Catch Episodes
STONINGTON, Conn., June 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of all Coast Guard members and their families, in partnership with Discovery Communications, announced today the premiere of its new Public Service Announcement (PSA) aimed at increasing awareness for its mission. Launched with the PSA, the Coast Guard Foundation has developed the micro-website, RescueTheRescuers.org, which includes additional versions of the PSA and provides interested parties with more information on the Foundation, its efforts and ways to support its work. Initially airing on the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch, the PSA and accompanying website kick-off promote the Foundation's mobile giving initiative that allows donors to easily and conveniently give $10 to the Coast Guard Foundation by texting RESCUER to 50555.
Since 1969, the Coast Guard Foundation has been committed to inspire leadership, learning and a proud legacy of service by supporting the men and women of the United States Coast Guard and their families. The Foundation's scholarship program has provided hundreds of higher education grants to enlisted personnel, reservist and their children. The Coast Guard Foundation's Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund offers higher education financial support for families of Coast Guard members lost in the line of duty. The Foundation also offers financial relief to Coast Guard families who lost possessions in natural disasters, and provides support for morale and wellness boasting endeavors including funding recreation, exercise and family-oriented facilities.
The Discovery Channel will air the 30-second PSA during 2010 Season 6 episodes of Deadliest Catch beginning June 14. 75-second and 60-second versions were also developed for television and online viewing. All three versions can be viewed at www.RescueTheRescuers.org and on www.youtube.com.
