DALLAS, Sept. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs, announces that its sixth annual ClubCorp Charity Classic, the company's nationwide major philanthropic open-house event, is now under way. Through Nov. 2, 2012, more than 130 golf and country clubs and business and sports clubs in the ClubCorp family of clubs located around the country are opening their courses and dining rooms to an estimated 16,000 members, guests, and patrons for tournaments, dining events, auctions, and social extravaganzas.
Since its inception in 2007, ClubCorp's Charity Classic has raised over $8 million benefiting charities including MDA's Augie's Quest, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the ClubCorp Employee Partners Care Foundation.
"Since founding the ClubCorp Charity Classic, the initiative has always remained close to my heart and I am so proud of our clubs and their members for making this annual event so successful," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp president and CEO. "Each year, our family of clubs comes together with their members and communities to benefit extremely worthy causes and help hundreds of thousands of people across the nation."
To recognize ClubCorp's appreciation for the community's involvement in DFW-area events, participants will once again be given a Member-for-a-Day certificate for the DFW-area private clubs in the ClubCorp family, allowing them a free round of golf at each of the 12 country clubs (cart-fee not included) and a complimentary entree at each of the two business clubs with the purchase of an entree (restrictions apply).
DFW-area Charity Classic events feature a variety of fundraising activities, such as golf and tennis tournaments, swim-a-thons, 5k runs, carnivals, and chili cook-offs.
