DALLAS, March 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ClubCorp, The World Leader in Private Clubs® (NYSE: MYCC). ClubCorp today announced the acquisition of two additional properties in Dallas. Prestonwood features two 18-hole championship golf courses – The Creek in Dallas and The Hills in nearby Plano – each with its own distinct clubhouse.
The purchase of Prestonwood Country Club marks the third for ClubCorp in the past six months – reinforcing the company's goal of continued growth through acquisition and club reinventions – and increases the Dallas-based company's prominence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to 17 clubs and overall portfolio to 156 clubs in 25 states, the District of Columbia, Mexico and China.
"The addition of these clubs provides greater opportunity for DFW-area members to enjoy more great golf, tennis, dining, swim and social activities and we welcome the Prestonwood members into the ClubCorp family," said Eric Affeldt, ClubCorp CEO and president. Affeldt added, "The company plans to invest in a multimillion-dollar renovation project that will include improvements to member dining areas, both golf courses and family amenities."
The 18-hole golf course at The Creek takes full advantage of the natural terrain as it winds through rolling tree-lined fairways and the tranquil streams of White Rock Creek. The Creek's expansive 52,000-square-foot clubhouse offers a variety of dining opportunities, a fitness area complete with state-of-the-art equipment, first-class tennis facility featuring 10 lighted Laykhold-surface courts, golf and tennis pro shops, and locker rooms with a whirlpool and steam and tanning rooms.
Nestled in the middle of the Hills of Prestonwood, the Hills course meanders its way through the rolling hills and natural foliage. The Hills clubhouse, with a Southwestern contemporary flair, offers a dining room, 19th Hole for casual "after-the-game" dining, fitness center, and outside deck, appointed with a fireplace, for dining and cocktails.
"ClubCorp is an ideal fit to follow our family's ownership of Prestonwood," said Greg Miller, CEO of Henry S. Miller's Companies. "They are committed to quality and offer members such a great experience at all their clubs."
As a member of the ClubCorp family, Prestonwood members can enjoy Community and Worldwide benefits, including complimentary green fees and complimentary dining when traveling to more than 200 private clubs and access to more than 700 hotels, resorts and entertainment venues. Among the DFW-area clubs in the ClubCorp family are Gleneagles Country Club, Stonebriar Country Club, Brookhaven Country Club and Tower Club in downtown Dallas, all of which have completed major reinvention projects in the past few years.
