Cleantech Focus Boston Explores Cross-Border Opportunities in China and India
Featured company speakers include A123Systems, Duke Energy, Infosys, Raytheon and China Hydroelectric
SAN FRANCISCO, May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cleantech Group, the leading global research, events and advisory firm focused on cleantech innovation, in partnership with the New England Clean Energy Council ("the Council"), today announced Cleantech Focus Boston, which will be held on June 10, 2010 to examine cross-border opportunities in China and India. With five year investment growth rates for the Chinese and Indian clean technology markets at 147.5 percent and 72 percent respectively, Cleantech Focus Boston creates the perfect opportunity to take an in-depth look at the potential benefits and challenges ahead for companies and investors looking to take advantage of the tremendous growth in these international markets.
"Five years from now, China and India will be the largest cleantech markets globally," said Sheeraz Haji, president of Cleantech Group. "With unprecedented government stimulus spending, low cost manufacturing, and supply chain competitiveness all driving cleantech growth in China and India, the opportunities are vast. Companies need to be thinking about how to expand their business in those markets in order to survive."
Cleantech Focus Boston will bring together influential industry players, including corporate leaders, venture capitalists, economic development agencies, entrepreneurs and policy makers from around the world in the cleantech industry. "We're pleased to be working with the Cleantech Group on this event to help support clean energy innovation in New England and around the world," said Peter Rothstein, president of the Council. "It's our goal to help the local clean technology community connect and work together to help support cleantech innovation, growth, education, adoption and policy on a global scale."
During Cleantech Focus Boston, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with key industry influencers during various networking sessions, hear case studies from leaders in this space on how they successfully expanded internationally, and learn more about the opportunities and challenges in China and India. Among the companies scheduled to present during these interactive case study sessions include Raytheon, a technology company specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. "Whether it is conserving natural resources, turning to renewable energy, supporting communities, promoting education, or addressing human needs, Raytheon takes social responsibility very seriously," said Ray Schubnel, a program manager at Raytheon. "In this respect, Raytheon is a willing participant in cleantech events such as this one. We're certainly interested in learning more about clean technologies, methods and processes to address global issues, and discussing initiatives underway at Raytheon that are aimed at these pressing problems."
Additionally, attendees will hear the latest research findings and receive a complimentary copy of a recent co-published report by Cleantech Group and Eversheds entitled, "Managing Cleantech IP in China." The report examines cleantech intellectual property (IP) strategies in China and provides useful information on the latest updates in laws for patents, copyrights and trade secrets to help companies form a well-developed and protected IP portfolio.
