Chyten Educational Services Plans Major National Expansion in 2010
LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Chyten Educational Services, a leading prep test company, will aggressively expand its national franchise operation by more than 100 percent in 2010, the company's president said today.
Neil Chyten, who began a career as a tutor 25 years ago and has grown Chyten Educational Services to 27 centers in 10 states, said he expects to add an estimated 30 new franchises within the next 12 months.
Last year, despite a down economy, Chyten added test prep centers in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon and California.
Chyten (www.Chyten.com) has entered into an agreement with Minuteman Press, one of the largest franchise operations in the United States, to serve as its exclusive national sales agent.
"Educational services and health care are two of the fastest growing segments of the franchise market," said Robert Titus, president of Minuteman Press. "Nationally, the tutoring and test prep industry has more than doubled in the past five years."
The state of the economy and the increased competition for students to get into the best colleges has created a perfect scenario for a company such as Chyten that has a quality product and a wonderful concept, he said.
"With cutbacks happening throughout the educational community across the country tutoring will play a larger role in the lives of students from every economic sector," he said.
Chyten is positioned as the quality leader in the industry as it has the highest standards of any franchise of its kind in the country, according to Titus.
The company is the only one that requires each tutor to have a master's degree and experience as a teacher. All tutoring is done at Chyten centers, providing a professional atmosphere and alleviating distractions that often occur when tutors do home visits.
The company reports that its students increase their SAT scores by an average of 274 points. More than two million high school students take the SAT annually, according to the College Board.
Testing for the standardized tests such as SATs and ACTs represents about 75 percent of the business at most Chyten centers, the only national tutoring franchise that provides a full range of educational services.
About 25 percent of the income of each Chyten center is derived from homework tutoring, study skills programs, college counseling and practice testing.
