CHRISTUS Health Signs With Koan Health for Accountable Care Analytics
DALLAS, Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CHRISTUS Health - an international Catholic not-for-profit health system based in Dallas—has hired Koan Health to provide comprehensive healthcare analytics to support care coordination with predictive risk modeling and performance improvement information.
Dallas-based Koan will work with two of CHRISTUS Health's federally recognized accountable care organizations—CHRISTUS Health Quality Care Alliance, covering nearly 27,000 lives in Texas, and CHRISTUS Louisiana ACO, with approximately 29,000 lives in Louisiana. The programs have participated in the Medicare Shared Savings Program since January 2016.
Through the agreement, the CHRISTUS team will have access to Koan Health's proprietary analytic tool for population health—Datalyst | Population—and consulting services to understand current performance, set improvement goals, design interventions and measure results.
"We believe Koan will enable us to actively engage and manage these important populations, which we hope will lead to better outcomes for the people we serve," said Shannon Stansbury, senior vice president of population health, CHRISTUS Health. "They've turned our raw data into insights we can use to keep patients healthy and better coordinate their care."
Jeff Hayes, Koan Health co-founder and executive vice president, describes the relationship as a true partnership. "We're honored to work with such a committed, mission-driven organization," Hayes said, "and excited to help them strengthen the value they deliver in accountable care."
Value-based arrangements are part of an ongoing revolution in health care delivery and financing. Government and private payers seek to improve quality while controlling costs by reimbursing providers based on clinical and financial results—instead of on the number of services they deliver.
Because of the deep link we create between clinical and financial performance, our predictive analytics are especially useful in value-based care," said DT Nguyen, Koan Health founder and chief executive officer. In addition to population health, Koan helps organizations improve performance in specific episodes of care through its Datalyst | Episode tool and related services.
