Christopher Guy Gives Back to LA's BEST Children, Inspires Designers of Tomorrow
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. April 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In honor of BritWeek 2010, world-renowned British luxury furniture designer Christopher Guy is donating a percentage of sales and three signature design pieces for a silent auction to LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program, a local non-profit that serves children with the fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles. The Christopher Guy flagship Beverly Hills showroom hosted an exclusive charity gala tonight to benefit LA's BEST.
Christopher Guy will donate 10% of all sales from the Beverly Hills showroom during BritWeek 2010, from April 20 to May 7. He also graciously donated three signature pieces that were a part of a silent auction at the gala.
LA's BEST board member and fellow Brit Nigel Lythgoe of So You Think You Can Dance thanked the attendees of the gala for their support. "It is crucial that we acknowledge the need in communities across the City of Los Angeles, particularly in these tough economic times. Investing in the future of the children in LA's BEST is imperative to help ensure a safer city and a better educated next generation. My thanks to Christopher Guy for joining me in supporting such an important program."
The fabulous event was sponsored by Angeleno magazine and fused design with community outreach, as winning artwork by children participating in the LA's BEST Designers of Tomorrow Workshop was on display and inspired attendees with their whimsical designs. The Designers of Tomorrow Workshop is part of LA's BEST After School Arts Program (ASAP), created to ensure that participating children have access to quality art education programs. Christopher Guy and Angeleno Interiors Editor in Chief Alexandria Abramian-Mott judged the children's artwork, which was inspired by Guy's signature furnishings. One grand-prize winner was chosen and received a $250 cash prize. Second and third place winners and runner-up cash prizes were also generously awarded.
"Designing is a big part of my life and always has been since I was young," said Christopher Guy. "It's great to know that I can do something to help children receive the appropriate resources and programs to make their own dreams come true," he added.
