Christina Oh Launches Style Blog Spotlighting Western Designers in China's $27 Billion Luxury Goods Market
ATLANTA, March 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Korean-American model and fashion blogger Christina Oh will showcase U.S. and European designers in China's lucrative luxury goods market this summer, as she launches her popular style blog in the Far East.
China's anticipated market for luxury goods is worth $27 billion in 2015, alone, according to McKinsey & Company.
Oh's site, www.ChristinasStyle.com, showcases luxury and designer apparel, accessories and cosmetics, as well as beauty and lifestyle accouterments.
"China offers an extraordinary confluence of a massive base of consumers, newly agreeable to displays of status, who seek exceptional quality goods that represent an investment," Oh explains.
Oh's blog, perhaps uniquely, is being marketed as a resource for Asian women who want western trends interpreted to emphasize their own, more feminine take on fashion.
"Women in the Far East want western styles, interpreted for their lives," says Oh. "I created my blog to reflect style that appeals multi-culturally. Eastern women prize a frank femininity."
Burberry representative Agnes Sambo agrees Oh has great potential to boost sales for luxury apparel in China, and the rest of the Far East.
"Christina Oh is one of the new fashion influencers," she notes. "Today, popular fashion bloggers are the go-to authorities for style, and their recommendations weigh in buying decisions."
Major retailers are flocking directly to these "new media" style arbiters, as their followings link retailers directly to the fastest-growing contingent of consumers, those who turn on social media, which is image laden and more immediate.
In March Saks Fifth Avenue tapped Ms. Oh to host superstar British shoe designer Sophia Webster at one of only three U.S. stops the designer made to promote her Spring 2014 collection for the major U.S. retailer.
Burberry and Christian Dior have taken Oh to trunk shows in New York City and design houses plan to fly her to London Fashion Week in September.
Oh covered Paris Fashion Week in February, gathering news for her daily blog, allowing her online following to glimpse collections the same day they were unveiled.
"These are incentives for viewers to consult the blog daily," Oh says. "The site gives them a constant feed of new looks, coming trends and fashion coverage."
"I plan to make designers I wear front page news in the Far East by showing how accessible, and wearable, U.S. and European brands are by women of traditional Asian cultures."
