Theme of meeting drawn from stories that have changed lives
BOSTON, June 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Members of The First Church of Christ, Scientist from all over the world will gather in Boston on Monday for the Church's annual meeting. Anyone not present in person can share in the event via live webcast at christianscience.com.
This year's theme is "The Pearl of Great Price," taken from a parable in the New Testament (Matthew, chapter 13). The meeting will include annual reports from Church officers, as well as comments from members around the globe on what the "pearl of great price" means to them and its value to the world. Video reports of healing will be highlighted.
Church officers will report on the business of the church, including announcing new Mother Church Readers. Karl (Sandy) Sandberg and Marian English have been selected for this three-year term. Both Sandy and Marian are Christian Science teachers and practitioners. Sandy has served the church in many capacities, including as a Christian Science lecturer and President of the church's Board of Education. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Chaplain. Marian has served the church as a Christian Science lecturer and as Church President.
The church is also hosting events throughout the weekend, exploring Christian healing. These include a number of church tours, a hymn sing, and discussions of church founder Mary Baker Eddy.
The current Chair of the Christian Science Board of Directors, Mary Trammell, the First Reader-elect, Sandy Sandberg, and the Manager of the Committees on Publication, Phil Davis, are available for interviews.
