Mr. Boon Sim, Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Credit Suisse, commented, "Over the past six years, Chris has been at the epicenter of virtually every major proxy battle and contentious M&A situation in his capacity as Director of M&A and Proxy Fight Research at ISS. There is no question that our clients who are involved in proxy fights and who face unsolicited takeover offers will benefit from Chris's significant takeover experience and his understanding of how institutional shareholders react to and vote in proxy battles. He will also provide valuable insight into how institutional shareholders are likely to view proposed M&A and capital-markets transactions as well as corporate governance issues more generally."
Mr. Young said, "I am excited to be returning to investment banking after the last six years at ISS. This move gives me the opportunity to share with the clients of Credit Suisse the increasingly important shareholder perspective and to help them achieve their strategic objectives."
The Credit Suisse Takeover Defense practice offers advice and solutions to Credit Suisse clients who find themselves the target of shareholder activism and unsolicited takeover attempts. In addition to providing expertise in defense situations and proxy fights, the Takeover Defense practice also provides advice on critical corporate governance issues facing the management and directors of public companies. Credit Suisse is a leader in takeover defense and has been involved in more contested takeover transactions in the US than any other advisor.
While at ISS, Mr. Young was responsible for analyzing contentious M&A transactions, proxy fights and corporate governance issues and providing proxy voting and tender offer recommendations for ISS institutional investor clients. Mr. Young also helped to facilitate a constructive dialogue between ISS institutional investor clients and senior executives and directors of public companies in the US and Europe. Mr. Young is regarded as a leading authority on contested M&A transactions and shareholder activism.
Mr. Young is a CFA charter holder, received his JD, magna cum laude, from Boston University and his BS from Georgetown University. Prior to ISS, Mr. Young was a member of the investment banking group at Bear Stearns and the M&A group at Sullivan & Cromwell.
