CHICAGO, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Chris Freeman has been promoted to lead the Food & Consumer Products team for Burns & McDonnell in the Chicago region. In his new role, he will lead project development in the Upper Midwest focusing on services ranging from pre-capital consulting and master planning for processing facilities to full process engineering, plant design and construction services.
Freeman joined Burns & McDonnell in 2012 at its World Headquarters in Kansas City, where he led several successful projects to upgrade plants for major food and consumer products corporations. Burns & McDonnell's Food and Consumer Products group specializes in plant upgrades and greenfield project development for food and food ingredients production, consumer products such as soaps, lotions and shampoos, pharmaceuticals and specialty chemical manufacturers.
"The food and consumer products industry is changing rapidly and moving Chris closer to major clients in the Upper Midwest will help our entire team be more responsive and integrated as we extend our capabilities far beyond traditional engineering," says Jon Wright, principal and director of Food & Consumer Products for Burns & McDonnell. "We now provide true business consulting focused on early project development and process improvements all the way to project design and construction. Chris has the background and experience our clients are demanding and is supported by a team with similar resumes."
Prior to joining Burns & McDonnell, Freeman served 12 years as a product manager, refinery plant manager and project engineer with Cargill. He worked with several of Cargill's major product lines to implement production improvements, business planning focused on increased profitability and to oversee major plant renovations. He has worked on numerous projects in both the U.S. and internationally.
"One of the things that sets us apart is our service offering for food and consumer products clients," says Scott Newland, senior vice president and general manager of the Chicago region. "We work with clients way upstream in project development to assist them in fully defining what they need, then support them with decision analysis, front-end engineering, detailed engineering, construction management and commissioning. And it doesn't stop there. We stay fully engaged with the client as the line gets up and running and they are producing product for sale. It is a full start-to-finish offering."
Freeman received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology, in Rolla, Mo.
