China's TCL Communication Adopts Broadcom® 3G Android Platform

The entry-level smartphone segment is driven by emerging markets where consumers are buying their first mobile phones and using them as personal computing devices.  According to ABI Research, smartphones costing $250 or less before carrier subsidies will make up 46 percent of all global smartphone shipments by 2018, up from 28 percent in 2012.¹ Broadcom's complete platform approach integrates cellular baseband processors with connectivity solutions and advanced technologies for multimedia, power management and multiband-multimode RF.  Prominent mobile brands including TCL have partnered with Broadcom to affordably and quickly develop new handsets with industry-leading features such as HSPA+ and 2G/3G dual-SIM dual-standby, an essential capability in emerging markets.
