China TransInfo Announces Official Launch of Information and Control System for the World Expo in Shanghai
BEIJING, April 20 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China TransInfo Technology Corp., (Nasdaq: CTFO), ("China TransInfo" or the "Company"), a leading provider of public transportation information systems technology and comprehensive solutions in the People's Republic of China ("PRC"), today announced that on April 14, 2010, the Company-designed Information and Control System for major commercial vehicles (the "IC System") was officially launched at the World Expo in Shanghai, which runs for six months from May 1 to October 31, 2010.
The IC System will initially be used to provide real-time monitoring, management, and emergency response for major incoming and outgoing commercial vehicles (including long-haul passenger vehicles, chartered vehicles for tourists, and vehicles carrying dangerous cargo) during the World Expo in Shanghai before it is expanded to cover 31 provinces across China.
The IC System integrates dynamic monitoring systems at the provincial level with the national regulatory platform to generate data exchanges. Specifically, the IC System includes a national regulatory platform, provincial monitoring platforms, provincial GPS application platforms, management systems for provincial transportation agencies, and a national filing and inspection system. As part of the IC System for the World Expo, China TransInfo has successfully integrated existing monitoring platforms in 16 provinces, which were isolated and failed to support data exchange and information sharing, to make them fully compatible with the national regulatory platform. In addition, the Company has established monitoring platforms, GPS application platforms and management platforms for local transportation agencies in 12 provinces, enabling China TransInfo to generate recurring revenue prospectively.
"China TransInfo was the only company in the transportation industry that participated in this technological partnership with the World Expo and we are very proud of this achievement," commented Mr. Shudong Xia, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Looking beyond the World Expo, this Information and Control System is of significant importance as we expect the provincial-level monitoring platforms, GPS application platforms and management platforms for local transportation agencies that we have established as part of this technological partnership to help us enter the fleet management industry and to generate recurring revenues to support our earnings growth."
