China Information Technology Affiliate Hosted a Visit by President Hu Jintao
SHENZHEN, China, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China Information Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: CNIT), a leading provider of Information Technologies and Display Technologies based in China, today announced that its controlled entity Wuda Geo Informatics Co., Ltd. ("Wuda Geo") recently hosted a visit from President Hu Jintao.
On June 1, 2011 President Hu Jintao made a special visit to the East Lake High-tech Development Zone in Wuhan, where Wuda Geo was one of the outstanding companies chosen to host President Hu. Ms. Aihong Song, Deputy General Manager of Wuda Geo, gave a presentation on the Company's R&D capabilities, including its "Map World" platform. First implemented in late 2010 by the National Geoinfomatics Center of China, "Map World" (www.tianditu.cn) is China's first national geographic information search platform with worldwide coverage, for general public, government and corporate use. Wuda Geo is the sole provider of the GIS platform and all software programs for "Map World."
While listening to the presentation, President Hu inquired about the resolution of satellite imagery of earthquake-prone parts of the country, and was pleased to learn that the platform offered satellite image resolution within 0.6 meters for over 333 cities in China, which provides critical geographic data for efficient city management and emergency response.
Mr. Jiang Huai Lin, Chairman and CEO of China Information Technology, commented, "We are very pleased and honored by President Hu's recent visit, and we take great pride in being recognized as a leader among Chinese technology developers. As our largest private sector project to date, "Map World" is pivotal for us. As GIS technologies become more broadly adopted in China we are steadily increasing our service and product offerings to private sector users. President Hu's visit and recognition of growing technological know-how is a major show of support from the highest level in government for China's nascent and growing IT industry. We look forward to continuing to contribute to advancement in the industry and increasing shareholder value in the process."
