LOS ANGELES, June 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Chideo, the first interactive charity broadcast network, today announced that its robust mobile app is now available for Android free of charge via Google Play. Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Todd Wagner, Chideo allows fans to discover and inspire one-of-a-kind content and experiences from their favorite personalities, all in the spirit of doing good.
"Offering the Chideo app to Android users dramatically increases our ability to reach more people and have the huge positive impact we hope to achieve," said Chideo Founder and CEO Todd Wagner. "We are continually looking for ways to expand and deliver on our vision of making it easy and fun for people to make a difference in the world. Now our users can watch exclusive content from their favorite celebrities, make donations and spread the word from anywhere."
The Android version of Chideo's app includes these key new features:
- Side menu navigation that mirrors the user experience of many Android apps including Gmail
- Enhanced search functionality, offering results in a list divided into categories such as Personalities, Suggestions, Videos and Charities, to help fans easily find the video content they most want to see
- In-app purchases via PayPal, including the ability to take a credit card snapshot if users don't want to fill out their credit card information
The company also today announced that recording artist Flo Rida, golf legend Jack Nicklaus and NFL star-turned-broadcaster Boomer Esiason have joined Chideo's roster of celebrities and newsmakers who partner with fans to generate support for their favorite charities.
"I feel like it's my duty to put a smile on peoples' faces whether it's through my charity work or through my music," Flo Rida said. "Chideo unites both of these passions and provides a platform for my fans to get involved, too."
Chideo currently features content from nearly 100 personalities including President Bill Clinton, Mario Batalli, Halle Berry, Bradley Cooper, KISS, Linkin Park, author Nicholas Sparks and Marchesa founder Georgina Chapman.
In addition to the full range of functionality available on the web-based version of the platform, the Chideo app also features a specially designed interface for its personalities, enabling them to easily record and post exclusive videos from anywhere in the world using their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and now, their Android devices.
