City Chase invites everyone from couch potatoes to athletes to reality TV fanatics to compete in physical, mental and adventurous challenges that will take them out of their comfort zones. Entering its seventh year, the international phenomenon is making stops in Denver, San Diego, Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, New York and Chicago beginning in June.
The 2010 City Chase is excited to announce T-Mobile as the series title sponsor. T-Mobile will be providing BlackBerry® smartphones to chasers to help them on their way – fast web browsing, BlackBerry® Messenger, GPS applications, e-mail, text messaging and voice-calling will help the two-person teams make quick decisions as they run, walk or use public transit to navigate their way throughout the city. To succeed in this day of laughter, adventure and discovery, participants must complete 10 ChasePoints before crossing the finish line.
"Past participants have said this is the coolest thing they've ever done in their lives," said Jason Erkes, President, City Chase USA. "City Chase provides chasers with a day compiled of more activities, discoveries, and adventures then most do in an entire summer."
The winning team from each city will also go home with BlackBerry® Bold 9700 smartphones courtesy of T-Mobile, plus the chance to compete in a National Championship Race to be held in a secret US location. Additional sponsors of the 2010 series include Merrell, Clif Bar and Tetra Pak.
City Chase takes traditional scavenger hunt challenges and urban race events to the next level, helping local participants rediscover the beauty of their city. While on a one-day tour to self-discovery, individuals will have the opportunity to complete ChasePoints that benefit local charities. City Chase raised more than $100,000 for local charities in 2009 and is aiming to double this donation in 2010.
Team composition is entirely up to the participants. Fathers and sons, husbands and wives, best friends, neighbors – all are welcome. "The winning team does not have to be the most athletic, but will win because they have an unbeatable combination of camaraderie and inventiveness," noted Erkes.
City Chase launched in Canada in 2003. Its popularity caused it to expand beyond the provinces' borders, expanding into other countries such as Australia and the UK. In 2007, City Chase made its U.S. debut in Chicago with 1,000 residents participating in a thrilling day of events. Over the past four years, more than 20,000 people from around the world have competed in and conquered a City Chase adventure.
