CFP Board Center For Financial Planning Expands Profession's Body Of Knowledge With New Wiley Book Series
First Book Will Offer Communications Essentials for Financial Planners
WASHINGTON, Aug. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The CFP Board Center for Financial Planning is expanding the body of knowledge for financial planning with a new series of books for faculty, students, practitioners, and researchers who work within the profession or discipline of financial planning. The series, published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWA and JWB), will build upon the initial success of the first two editions of the Financial Planning Competency Handbook.
"Our objective with this series is to continue expanding the body of knowledge for financial planning relative to both breadth and depth," said Dr. Charles Chaffin, Director of the Academic Home for the Center for Financial Planning and editor of the series. "The series will address both traditional subject areas that are associated with financial planning, as well as new topics and concepts that can advance both financial planning practice and how we educate the next generation entering the workforce."
The series will launch in early 2017 with the release of Communication Essentials for Financial Planners: Strategies and Techniques, written by Dr. John Grable and Dr. Joseph Goetz of the University of Georgia. The book will include a series of online videos that demonstrate a variety of interactions between the client and planner.
Within the next five years, the book series will include a number of content areas within and beyond financial planning, helping expand the body of knowledge for practitioners while fueling research and helping prepare the next generation of financial planners serving the public.
"We are beyond excited to expand our relationship with the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning," says Laura Gachko, Associate Publisher, Wiley. "The Board has been an amazing partner these last three years and we look forward to continuing our work to bring financial professionals the most timely and detailed information possible in this ever- evolving financial landscape."
Last year CFP Board completely revised and updated its popular reference guide for financial planning students and practitioners, Financial Planning Competency Handbook, Second Edition. Also published by Wiley and edited by Chaffin, it is available in bookstores and through major online retailers.
