CenturyLink wins FCC MTIPS task order
Company to provide secure internet service to Gettysburg IT center
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) recently won a task order to provide Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Services (MTIPS) to the Federal Communications Commission's IT center in Gettysburg, Pa. This IT facility serves as the primary intake center for all incoming FCC inquiries and complaints.
MTIPS is a managed security service that provides secure connectivity to the internet and external networks. It enables agencies to comply with the Office of Management and Budget's Trusted Internet Connection initiative.
"CenturyLink looks forward to providing its market-leading MTIPS infrastructure to the FCC's Gettysburg IT center and helping protect both the center and the commission from network attacks," said Erich Sanchack, CenturyLink senior vice president and general manager, federal government.
CenturyLink provides a highly secure, reliable and scalable MTIPS infrastructure capable of detecting and defending against aggressive network attacks while meeting or exceeding the federal government's network standards, requirements and compliance.
The company is a leading provider of MTIPS under the General Services Administration's Networx contract, which is the largest telecommunications contract vehicle ever awarded by the federal government.
This award was made via the Networx Enterprise contract and is worth approximately $175,000 a year for up to five years, or a total of $875,000.
It is an expansion of the services CenturyLink currently provides to the FCC. In 2012, CenturyLink won a task order to provide MTIPS to the FCC that was evaluated at $2.64 million through 2017.
By supplying managed hosting, cybersecurity, cloud and IT services over its carrier-class network, CenturyLink provides government agencies with the security and reliability they need to carry out their important missions.
CenturyLink has been steadily climbing the rankings and is currently ranked No. 34 on Washington Technology's 2016 Top 100 list of federal government IT contractors.
