NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Century 21 Department Store is partnering with the non-profit organization Tuesday's Children to raise money for programs and services for the families and children impacted by the September 11th tragedy. This year, Century 21 Co-Owner Eddie Gindi and his band Men In My Head have teamed up with award winning rapper, entrepreneur, actor and producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson to collaborate on a song to benefit the charity. Beginning November 11th, Century 21 shoppers can exclusively purchase in-store and download the song "Century Love", written and performed by Eddie Gindi, Men In My Head and 50 Cent with all profits benefitting Tuesday's Children.
After the incredible success of last year's partnership where downloads of Century 21's exclusive song "Survivor Tree" raised over $275,000 for Tuesday's Children and hit #1 on the Billboard Singles Sales Chart, the retailer wanted to take this partnership to the next level.
"As a native New Yorker there is no city more resilient than New York," 50 Cent says, "Tuesday's Children is an incredible organization and I am honored to be involved with this initiative."
As a second generation, family-owned business, Century 21's downtown flagship location has been the area's fashion anchor for over 50 years. The store was at the center of the 9/11 disaster and its reopening marked a pivotal point in the rebirth of lower Manhattan.
"We are living our core value to give back and to bring passion, we're able to do this with the help of entrepreneur and A-list musician 50 Cent," said Eddie Gindi, Co-Owner of Century 21 Department Store. "This year's song 'Century Love' is about the resilience of New York City and who better to partner with than a true New Yorker, like 50 Cent, who was born in Queens and rose to the top of the music world with hard work and dedication. We are so thankful that he is able to help Tuesday's Children's cause."
Terry Sears, Executive Director of Tuesday's Children, said, "We were thrilled by the remarkable success of Century 21's 'Survivor Tree' campaign and are looking forward to even more success as we partner with the talented 50 Cent this year. We are extremely grateful for Century 21's support of Tuesday's Children and our programs. We hope that the campaign continues to grow, and are eager to spread the word about this wonderful initiative Century 21 Department Store and 50 Cent have taken on our behalf."
To kick off the partnership, Century 21 will be hosting an in-store event on Tuesday, November 11th where 50 Cent will be onsite, signing autographs and showcasing his SMS Audio headphone collections: Street by 50 and Sync by 50. Additionally, investor 50 Cent will have Frigo RevolutionWear, a game-changing product line for men, on display; a portion of proceeds from the sale of Frigo items will be donated to Tuesday's Children. The event will be hosted at the new "J&R Express" in the lower level of Century 21's flagship downtown location that will open in November. The approximately 1,300 square foot boutique will have an amazing curated assortment of portable electronics, cameras, personal audio/video technology, smart phones, music on CD/vinyl and DVDs coinciding with the 2014 holiday shopping season, and perfectly timed with the resurgence of lower Manhattan's business and tourist activity. The first 500 people to purchase select CDs (from 50 Cent, G-Unit, Timbaland or Men In My Head) from the "J&R Express" on November 9th and 10th, will receive a VIP wristband gaining them access to onsite autographs the day of the event.
