BALTIMORE, Jan. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Catholic Charities of Baltimore announced today that the agency will receive a grant of $800,000 over two years from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. The grant will support a number of Catholic Charities' programs, including those that provide support to people experiencing poverty, homelessness and joblessness, medically fragile senior citizens, children and families in crisis, recent immigrants and individuals with intellectual disabilities.
"We value and are extremely proud and grateful for our longstanding partnership with The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation," said Bill McCarthy, executive director of Catholic Charities of Baltimore. "The most recent grant will allow us to continue to provide life-saving and life-affirming services to our most vulnerable neighbors. Our partnership helps to make our community stronger and the lives of our neighbors better."
In awarding the grant, The Weinberg Foundation noted that Catholic Charities' mission is aligned with the goal of providing support, in a variety of ways, to those in need.
"The Weinberg Foundation is one of the largest foundations in the State of Maryland and distributes roughly $100 million each year in grants. The Foundation is proud to fund multi-service organizations that provide a range of high-quality services to low-income individuals and families," said Rachel Garbow Monroe, Weinberg Foundation President and CEO. "The Foundation is pleased to announce a new $800,000 to Catholic Charities of Maryland ($400,000 per year for two years). The Foundation has a long history of funding Catholic Charities – not only because of its mission that is so clearly aligned with the Weinberg Foundation, but also because of the organization's strong and dedicated professional and lay leadership, as well as its broad impact across Maryland, providing more than 80 programs at roughly 200 locations throughout the State."
